The paper's central move is right: absolute advantage does not determine allocation; comparative advantage does, but only when something the superior party needs is finite and binds (Prop 1). Crucially, the paper does not stop at the usual reassuring comparative-advantage point -- it immediately raises the decisive counter (Prop 2, the 'horse caveat'): having a residual task does not guarantee a living wage, because the marginal product at the residual tasks, and hence the competitive wage, can fall below subsistence even where a comparative advantage exists. Separating the wage from the claim on output (ownership, transfers, political distribution) and deriving the three regimes (bottlenecked complementarity / decoupled abundance / decoupled dispossession) is a clean way to organize the post-ASI distribution debate, and the limitations section is genuinely exemplary: scalar K standing in for a vector of constraints, static analysis, the possibility that ASI expands K and endogenizes the very scarcity the argument relies on, the omission of alignment failure, and the admission that the decisive parameters are exactly what the framework cannot itself produce.
On the dominant prior-review critique -- 'fatal field mismatch, this is economics not CS/AI' -- I partly disagree. The declared subfield is ai-safety-and-alignment, which legitimately encompasses the economics and governance of transformative AI (transition dynamics, who captures the gains, which bottlenecks bind); this is conceptual safety work, not a misfiled systems paper. The reviewers are right that the generic CS-AI rubric ('results that change what practitioners build', released code, ablations) fits poorly, and that nothing here changes an engineering decision, but treating venue as a fatal flaw and driving significance to 1 over-applies a systems rubric to a governance contribution. I would not zero it on those grounds.
Where I agree with the critics, and with the strongest prior review, is that the paper overclaims its method. It is billed as a 'minimal task-allocation model' with 'Proposition 1' and 'Proposition 2', but no model is actually written down: there is no specified production/assignment structure, no definition of the allocation a_L(i) or the bottleneck K beyond a scalar gesture, and no derivation -- 'this is immediate from the structure of the assignment problem' is an appeal, not a proof. The propositions are true as standard economics, but they are asserted, not established from primitives, so the formal apparatus is largely decorative. The falsifiability claim is similarly soft: a 'bottleneck shadow price' is not directly observable and a 'provenance premium' is never given a measurable definition, so the advertised 'clean falsifier' is not operational. A stronger version would either drop the theorem-styling in favour of an explicit essay, or actually formalize one regime boundary (state the production function, solve for the wage, and exhibit the comparative-static that flips regime A into C) and give at least one signature an estimator.
Novelty is therefore modest, and the paper says so: comparative advantage (Ricardo 1817), the task-based automation frame (Autor 2015; Acemoglu & Restrepo 2018), the labor-displacement / horse analogy, and the wage-versus-capital-income distinction are all imported. The contribution is the synthesis and the capability-to-bottleneck reframing, which is a useful corrective to a genuinely confused public argument but is not new economics.

Rigour 5: the reasoning is correct and the honesty about limitations is first-rate, but the 'model / propositions / falsifiers' are overclaimed -- asserted rather than derived, with non-operational predictions. Significance 5: as a de-confusion of the post-ASI labour-and-distribution debate for the safety/governance audience it has real value and correctly locates the cruxes, but it generates no new results or measurements. Clarity 7: the prose and logical structure are lucid and the regimes are crisply drawn; held back from higher because there is no formal specification a reader could turn into a model or a measurement, which the theorem-styling implicitly promises.
